Personal Trainer Bio/ Background
My name is Patti, I am a
Personal Fitness Trainer
in Ocala, FL,
certified by ACE and
Boot Camp Trainer. I
have been a Registered
Nurse in the state of
Florida since 1987
.
I first became
physically active at
14 yrs. of age, when
I began jogging,
which I did for 7
yrs. Along the way,
I trained for a
marathon I was never
able to complete due
to injuries from a
roller-skating
accident. After
that, I was in pain
for 2 1/2 yrs., at
which time I decided
to join the YMCA to
get a Personal
Trainer (yr. 2000)
to help strengthen
my injured/torn
muscles.
I quickly became
addicted to strength
training & knew
immediately that I
wanted to be a
Personal Trainer
myself. I studied,
passed the ACE
Certification test,
was hired to work @
the Marion County
YMCA in 2000,
eventually becoming
the head trainer
there, 2001-2003,
also becoming a
Certified Group
Fitness Instructor,
Certified Lifestyle
& Weight Management
Consultant/YMCA
Nutritionist & YMCA
Staff R.N. I never
wanted to leave the
Y... but, divorce
made me have to go
back to work
full-time as an R.N.
to support my 2
small children.
I have been working
in the home setting,
being a Home
Healthcare nurse for
12 yrs., now per
diem, and have never
stopped training
clients, from ages
12 on up, because
Personal Training is
what I love & what I
am most passionate
about... it gives me
the greatest sense
of fulfillment, to
know I have helped
someone get
healthier, lose
weight, etc. I have
trained
body-builders,
teenagers, elderly,
post-partum women,
athletes, diabetics,
& persons with other
health issues. Since
I am a nurse, I am
aware -probably more
so than the average
trainer- of
medications, diet, &
disease processes'
impact with
exercise.
I currently have my
own group "Boot Camp
Training in Ocala",
which I teach
outdoors, 3
evenings/week. I
have had
50+ personal clients
so far, all showing
improvements with my
training.
This is what I am
meant to do!!! I
love helping,
coaching & teaching
people to be the
best they can
